My word, it certainly has been a while since I've taken the time to sit down and update this bad boy. Sorry about that for anyone that checks it on a somewhat regular basis (I'm looking at you, April!). Since my epic roadtrip out West, I have successfully navigated the first month of my new job! It has been a whirwind of learning and adjusting, but I can proudly say that I've made it through fully intact. Each day is a new learning opportunity, as I still have so much to learn regarding the financial world. But, overall I'm enjoying what I'm doing and feel like I truly am helping people make wise financial decisions. So, Roll Tide to my new job!
Other things going on with me including connecting with some fun new friends. They are from Tuscaloosa, AL of all places, and moved out here to plant a church in North Portland. Before coming out here, I always had the idea in the back of my head that part of my reason for coming would be to help start a church in some capacity. At the time, I had no clue what that meant, but it was always there. Now that I'm here and settling in, it is becoming more clear. Bridge City Church is brand new and starting to get on its feet. I've connected with the family that moved out here to start it and am so excited to be a part of what the Lord is doing in the Pacific Northwest. If you want to learn more about the church, you can check out their website www.bridgecitychurchpdx.com or just shoot me a text/email.
Another fun thing that's coming down the pipe (that is sure to make for an epic blog post!) is my first set of visitors! Three of my dear friends have decided to come visit for Labor Day Weekend! Mary Ellen and Jessica are flying out from Alabama and Allie, who currently lives in Canada (what?!) is coming down. It promises to be an adventure filled weekend. We have a beach trip, camping trip and "make my house a home" plans all in the works. Updates surely to follow on all of that.
Until then, cheers from Portland!
